Back up the registry.

  • On the Start menu, click Run.

  • In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type: Regedit. Click OK.

  • In the Registry Editor window, verify that My Computer is selected.

  • On the Registry menu, click Export Registry File.

  • In the Export Registry File dialog box, in the Save in drop-down list, click drive C.

  • In the File name text box, type: Registry.reg.

  • Verify that All below Export range is selected.

  • Click Save. The Export Registry File dialog box closes automatically.

Edit the registry.

  • On the Start menu, click Run.

  • In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type: Regedit. Click OK.

  • In the Registry Editor window, click the plus sign (+) next to Hkey local machine.

  • Click the plus sign (+) next to System.

  • Click the plus sign (+) next to CurrentControlSet.

  • Click the plus sign (+) next to Services.

  • Click the Winsock key. On the Edit menu, click Delete.

  • Click Yes to confirm file delete.

  • Click the Winsock2 key. On the Edit menu, click Delete.

  • Click Yes to confirm file delete, and then close the Registry Editor window.

Uninstall and Reinstall TCP/IP

  • Click on Start

  • Click on Settings

  • Click Control Panel

  • Double click on the Network and Dial-up Connections folder

  • Right-click on Local Area Connection and the Left-click on Properties

  • On the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box click on Internet Protocol [TCP/IP] and then click on the Uninstall button.

  • Click on OK and then restart your computer if prompted. If not prompted to restart the computer then restart your computer through the Start menu.

  • When the computer restarts check to see if the Internet Protocol is reinstalled.
